Roman King is a NYC-based Creative Director who's all about storytelling through visual media, building emotionally resonant brands through the intersections of entertainment and culture, and ensuring marketing and creative teams truly click.
He is currently the Creative Director of Major League Soccer (MLS), leading all league creative and shaping campaigns, consumer-facing marketing, storytelling, and visual direction to grow the beautiful game in North America. His work centers on igniting cultural relevance, brand affinity, and fan connection by bringing the emotion and culture of the sport to life for a new era of fans.
Prior to MLS, Roman served as the WNBA’s first Creative Director, where he orchestrated its creative evolution and helped usher in a new era for the league — spearheading all creative across advertising, design, brand marketing, storytelling, television, and immersive experiences that captured the spirit and power of women's basketball today. Some of his work at the WNBA included launching the league’s rebrand, the 25th-anniversary campaign Count It, the WNBA's first short film We Are The W, the acclaimed "More Than Game" campaign in 2023, and it's current platform "Welcome to the W." His work has been recognized by Ad Age, Adweek, The Business of Fashion, Communication Arts, the Clios, Ebony, Muse, MTV News, the Webby Awards, among others.
Prior to joining the WNBA, Roman held creative leadership roles at Rolling Stone, Philadelphia magazine, and Condé Nast.
Roman is an alumnus of Yale School of Management's Creative Leaders program and proudly hails from the country roads of West Virginia, where he received his Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) at West Virginia University.
